The Lady of the Lake is a mysterious, graceful, lurking figure in the depths of the murky, mystical water,
The addition of the blue light strip behind her was to emphasize that air of mystery and power, and to create more contrast and depth in the piece.

The process

The beginning of this piece began with laying out the gold leaf and using a foam head for the template.
After having the background completed, I began sculpting her torso and head out of spray foam, clay, and plaster-soaked cloth.

Finally, after adding the gold leaf over her skin, I added final touches and details with acrylic paint, and coated her in resin to seal it all together.

After adding the gold leaf, I covered the canvas in crackle effect paste and blue ink and more gold leaf and pigment.
After building out her torso and facial features, I then covered her in gold leaf to bring a shine and texture and smoothness to her skin.
